Amanda Seyfried Hints At JENNIFER’S BODY Sequel In The Works

Screenwriter Diablo Cody has previously expressed her desire for a sequel to the feminist cult classic.

In the years since its 2009 release, Karyn Kusama's Jennifer's Body has gone from unfairly maligned cult classic to bonafide horror fave, with many fans dying for a sequel that would continue the bloody tale of Amanda Seyfried‘s Anita “Needy” Lesnicki following her encounter with former-best-friend-turned-succubus Jennifer (Megan Fox).

At a recent Toronto screening for her new film Seven Veils, Seyfried teasing that a sequel might be further along than we originally hoped.

According to sources at the Seven Veils screening, confirmed in a TikTok uploaded by @thefriendlystranger, when asked for an update on a Jennifer's Body sequel, Seyfried had the following to say:

โ€œI think weโ€™re making another one. I didnโ€™t confirm it! I said, โ€˜I thinkโ€™, (she winks). Weโ€™re working on it, weโ€™re working on it.โ€

Back in 2024, Jennifer's Body writer Diablo Cody revealed to Bloody Disgusting that a sequel is definitely on her agenda:

โ€œYES! I wanna do a sequel,โ€ Cody excitedly admits. โ€œI am not done with Jenniferโ€™s Body. I just need to findโ€ฆ I need to partner with people who believe it in as much as I do and that hasnโ€™t really happened yet. I need someone to believe in it who has a billion dollars.โ€

Jennifer's Body  ended on a gloriously good-for-her spate of bloody female revenge, as Needy inherits some of Jennifer's demonic powers and goes on a killing spree to hunt down the emo rockers who sacrificed her best friend. Although Jennifer does canonically die at the end of the movie, this is horror – anything can happen. If Megan Fox were to express an interest in returning to her “favorite role”, we can't imagine anyone would turn down the idea on account of logistics. Jennifer's a demon, after all.

While nothing further on a Jennifer's Body sequel has yet been confirmed, rest assured we're following this story very closely. Keep your eyes peeled for updates as we get them.
