Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's I Know What You Did Last Summer slices into theaters on July 18, with Sony dropping the first official trailer for the slasher reboot.
Original 1997 I Know What You Did Last Summer stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. return to play Julie James and Ray Bronson respectively, with Jonah Hauer-King, Madelyn Cline, Alexander Chavez, Lola Tung, Tyriq Withers, and Chase Sui Wonders also starring.
Robinson (Do Revenge) wrote the script for I Know What You Did Last Summer alongside Sam Lansky, based on a story conceived with Leah McKendrick (M.F.A). The pic follows:
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and theyโre forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summerโฆand is hell-bent on revenge.
As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
Whether or not Brandy is set to return to her role as fan-favorite character Karla Wilson from 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer remains to be seen (but fingers crossed!)
Original IKWYDLS producer Neal H. Moritz returns to produce, with Robinson, Jackie Shenoo, and Karina Rahardja exec producing.
