Gareth Edwards' Jurassic World Rebirth, which is apparently the most anticipated summer movie of 2025, stomps into theaters on July 2, with a new featurette from Universal teasing more of how the new epic will harken back to the dino blockbuster that birthed it all.
Starring Scarlett Johansson as covert operations expert Zora Bennett, Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s most trusted team member, Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis and Rupert Friend as Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs, the latest in the franchise was written by original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp:
Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein also star.
OG Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg returns as executive producer, along with Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing.
In today's new featurette, Johansson teases that Jurassic World Rebirth will take things back to the original story we all know and love, saying “It's called Rebirth… It harkens back to the first film. It's a survival story.” Ali confirms that Rebirth will see “new types” of dinosaurs introduced, one of which has been described as a genetically mutated mix of a Rancor, H.R. Giger art and T. rex.
Excitingly, Bailey also adds that “I know that it will bring back the wonder of seeing Jurassic for the first time.”
