Richard Green's I Know Catherine, The Log Lady, the documentary surrounding the life and final performance of David Lynch collaborator Catherine Coulson (Twin Peaks), gets a new trailer today ahead of its April 17 Hollywood premiere.
The moving and intimate doc chronicles Coulson's career working on stage and screen, most notably with the late, great David Lynch in her role as Twin Peaks‘ iconic Log Lady aka Margaret Lanterman.
Coulson played the Log Lady in both seasons of Twin Peaks‘ original run from 1990 to 1991, and in the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, as well as returning 25 years later for 2017's Twin Peaks: The Return.
Coulson also worked behind the scenes on Lynch's 1977 debut Eraserhead, and appeared in Lynch's short film The Amputee (1974).
During filming of The Return, Coulson was struggling with terminal cancer and passed away shortly after the premiere, making her final performance even more poignant.
I Know Catherine, The Log Lady will have its Hollywood premiere April 17 as the Closing Night Film of the American Cinematheque's This is Not A Fiction Film Festival. The doc will continue screening around the United States including a weeklong run in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Glendale beginning May 9. In New York, the doc will premiere May 1 at the IFC Center, with an encore screening May 4.
Ahead of the premiere, Green shared:
“When Donna DuBain told me what lengths David Lynch and Catherine's closest friends went through to get her final performance as the Log Lady on screen, days before she died, I knew there was a great story there. In their own words, Catherine's friends weave a riveting tale of who Catherine was and and how and why the show must go on.”
Check out the new trailer and poster for I Know Catherine, The Log Lady and make sure to catch it at one of the above screenings if you're in the area. For more Lynch tributes check out the upcoming issue of FANGORIA.
