Teens are put through timeloop hell in Sony Picture's new trailer for Until Dawn, hitting theaters on April 25.
Directed by David F. Sandberg and written and produced by Gary Dauberman (It, The Nun, โSalem's Lot), Until Dawn is not a direct adaptation of 2015 game, instead taking the plot in a different direction, detailed by today's new trailer.
The R-rated horror stars Ella Rubin (The Girl from Plainville), Michael Cimino (Annabelle Comes Home), Ji-young Yoo (Smoking Tigers), Odessa Aโzion (Hellraiser), Maia Mitchell (Good Trouble), Belmont Cameli (Saved by the Bell) and legendary character actor Peter Stormare (Constantine), who played Dr. Hill in the original game.
In Until Dawn:
One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by oneโฆonly to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening.
Trapped in the valley, theyโre forced to relive the nightmare again and again โ only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.
Easier said than done, however, as today's new trailer teases a whole host of horrific threats, from creepy dolls to pregnancy horror.
In a previous teaser, Sandberg expanded on why he chose to take Until Dawn in a new direction:
โOne of the creative things the game did is that people make different choices and die in different ways [โฆ] The movie has this mechanic, where things start over and they get to try again. Every time they come back to life, itโs like theyโre in a new horror genre. To survive, they have to make it Until Dawn.โ
