DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH Release Date Announced With Epic New Trailer

Hideo Kojima's action-adventure gaming epic stars Norman Reedus, Leรก Seydoux, Troy Baker and Elle Fanning.

Hideo Kojima's highly-anticipated Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been dated for release, launching on June 26, 2025 exclusively on the PlayStation 5, or June 24 for those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Collectorโ€™s Edition.

Kojima took to the stage at SXSW this weekend to announce the news himself, plus to reveal a jaw-dropping 10-minute new teaser complete with new gameplay footage and a peek at new characters – one of whom looks very familiar to an iconic character from another famous Kojima franchise…

In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Norman Reedus returns to his role as courier Sam Porter Bridges, with Lรฉa Seydoux and Troy Baker also returning as Fragile and Higgs respectively. New additions to the sequel include Mad Max co-creator George Miller, director Fatih Akin (The Golden Glove), Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon), Luca Marinelli and Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool & Wolverine).

A – deceptively simple – plot synopsis reads as follows:

Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam โ€” with companions by his side โ€” sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected?

Released back in 2019, Death Stranding marked Kojima's first project since leaving Konami following fallout from the sadly-unrealized Silent Hills. As of 2021, the game has sold 5 million copies worldwide.

Kojima fans can also get excited about he and Jordan Peele's mysterious horror game OD (featuring Udo Kier, Hunter Schafer and Sophia Lillis), and the upcoming Death Stranding film adaptation from A24 and Kojima Productions.
