Terrifier fans have long been clamoring for the chance to play as Art the Clown in his very own video game, and it looks like those grisly prayers have been answered, with Developer Relevo and publisher Selecta Play releasing Terrifier: The ARTcade Game.

The beat-'em-up arcade game will be heading to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms sometime next year, with no official release date at the time of writing.

The brand new trailer for the game (seen below) showcases some amazing animated cutscenes and pixel art – who knew 8-bit could be so gory?

Reporting on the news earlier today, ComicBook.com revealed more of what can be expected from Terrifier: The ARTcade Game:

Terrifier: The ARTcade Game will have bosses, too, though itโ€™s unclear if those will be characters from the movie like Sienna or if theyโ€™ll be totally new enemies. Itโ€™ll also have six different game modes ranging from quicker missions to longer challenges (possibly an endless mode?) and can support up to four players at once.

In addition to playing as Art the Clown, youโ€™ll also be able to play as the possessed version of Victoria seen at the end of Terrifier 2 and more prominently in Terrifier 3, the Pale Little Girl who was a core part of Terrifier 2, and Burke, an attendant at a psychiatric hospital who was played by pro wrestler Chris Jericho in the movies.

The official description listed on the Steam store lets us know that each stage of the retro-inspired game  is a movie set where a film about everyone's favorite maniacal clown is being produced – but Art has other ideas, obviously.

While Art has made cameo appearances in Call of Duty, Terrifier: The ARTcade Game is Art's very first own game all to himself.

Damien Leone's Terrifier 3 hits theaters today. The film sees David Howard Thornton return as Art, with Lauren LaVera returning as Sienna, with Samantha Scaffadi as Victoria Heyes and Elliot Fullam also returning as Siennaโ€™s little brother Jonathan.

After surviving Art the Clown's Halloween massacre, Sienna and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind. But just when they think they're safe, Art the Clown returns, determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare. The festive season quickly unravels as Art unleashes his twisted brand of terror, proving that no holiday is safe.
