Horror fans, listen up! The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival has revealed the lineup for its ninth edition, which kicks off next month in New York, running from October 17 through 24. Badges are on sale now, with individual tickets going on sale Friday. There is plenty to look forward to in this yearโs lineup of films, including a special screening of Larry Fessendenโs Habit to go along with the Leviathan Award Ceremony honoring his film career. Thatโs just the tip of the iceberg.
The Opening Night film is the New York premiere of Dead Mail, which comes from directors Joe DeBoer and Kyle McConaghy. The fest also includes the North American Premiere of Tiago Teixeiraโs body horror film Custom; a new documentary on horror at the turn of the millennium called Generation Terror from Phillip Escott and Sarah Appleton; and New Zealand director Sasha Rainbowโs film Grafted. As part of the shorts section of the festival, the latest on-screen appearance from horror legend Barbara Crampton is on deck as well, as sheโs starring in Laugh Now Die Later.

This yearโs fest will also feature several world premieres, including Izzy Lee's feature film debut House of Ashes. Other premieres include the atmospheric ghost story Lilly Lives Alone, and the queer sci-fi adventure Psychonaut. The festivalโs other spotlight titles include this yearโs Centerpiece Film Animale, a revenge-fantasy from French director Emma Benestan. The lineup also includes The Rule of Jenny Pen starring Geoffrey Rush and John Lithgow as the Closing Night Film. That one is also screening as part of this yearโs Fantastic Fest, which kicks off later this year.
All of the films will be screened at Nitehawk Cinemaโs Williamsburg and Prospect Park locations. As mentioned, badges for the festival are on sale now beginning at $165 for the Splatter Package, which includes six film selections. Thereโs also the Horror Buff level for $325 which includes 12 film selections, as well as the Possessed Package, which includes 16 selections and other perks for $575. There will also be a limited number of individual tickets going on sale Friday at 12pm EST.
The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival held its first event in 2016 and has since become a mainstay in the genre world. Some of the notable films to play at past iterations of the fest include The Sadness, The Sacrifice Game, Swallow and Tragedy Girls, among many others.
