With Clayface now in theaters, body horror seems to be all the rage, including with new films. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer is set to star in a new body horror film titled Devour, putting a gory, sapphic twist on the classic erotic thriller.

Devour is written and directed by Erica Orofino, with Georgia Bradner and Elizabeth Adams also starring in the film. Per THR, its synopsis is as follows:

Helfer plays Luisa, a former professional figure skater facing compulsions she cannot control as she becomes dangerously fixated on Karla, her daughter’s friend played by Georgia Bradner. A forbidden attraction then becomes an obsession and a self-destructive unravelling of Luisa’s life in increasingly terrifying and transgressive ways..

“I loved how dark and psychological the story was,” Helfer told THR. “Erica wasn’t afraid to go there, and that’s what made me want to be part of it.”

Devour is produced by Matt Code, Alison Almeida, and Lucy McNulty, with executive producers including Todd Brown, Kiersten Hanly, Emily O’Quinn Code, Mike Chapman, and Fatima Hayward.

“I wanted to make a film about self-identity, female sexuality and desires that exist outside our dominant norms or moral codes,” says Orofino. “I curated this cast carefully and I’m grateful this team came together in the way that it did. Tricia was a dream to direct. She will grip your heartstrings and your guts and not let go. Elizabeth and Georgia are going to blow you away.”
