Shudder is busy lining up a series of exciting premieres for the last few months of the year, and today they added another one to the list. Variety reports that they’ve acquired Split Rock, a supernatural horror film from Ryan Glover that debuts at Sitges Film Festival this weekend.
Written and directed by Glover, Split Rock stars Clark Backo, Drew Ray Tanner, Olivia Luccardis, and Graham Verchere. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
Split Rock follows geologists Lauren (Backo) and Ben (Tanner) as they investigate a strange anomaly discovered deep within the remote badlands. After unearthing an ancient force hidden in the hills, the couple and their team must face a series of ever-intensifying horrors.
“I am very excited and thankful to be teaming up with Shudder again for the release of Split Rock, my bloodier, and far more ambitious second film,” said Glover. “Shudder is home to the most passionate genre audience in the world, and I can’t wait for them to unearth the horrors and tragedies of Split Rock later this year.”
Shot on 16mm film, the film will have its North American premiere at this year’s Brooklyn Horror Film Festival on October 21, before coming to Shudder in December. Split Rock is produced by Brian Robertson, Jefferson Moneo, Krista Dzialoszynski, with executive producers Kate Melville, Fabiola Caraza, Patrick Hackett, Daniel Futa, and Glover.
“With Split Rock, Ryan Glover has delivered a meticulously crafted world of psychological tension and haunting performances from its intimate cast,” says Shudder’s Emily Gotto. “We can’t wait to share this unsettling tale with Shudder audiences.”
Split Rock premieres on Shudder on December 25.
