Scary season is already off to a great start, as today brings us news that another R.L. Stine adaptation is in the works at Tubi following the streamer's gateway horror hit R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead and the upcoming R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2, coming next week.
R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead director Jem Garrard is set to helm a new original horror movie from the prolific author titled R.L. Stine's Afraid of Clowns, coming to Tubi in 2027.
Starring Frankie Honey, Ava Ferrer, Azriel Dalman, Joe Moore and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 8 champion and drag clown extraordinaire Jimbo, R.L. Stine's Afraid of Clowns is set in Redhaven, the cursed fictional town of the Pumpkinhead films.
A full synopsis reads:
When Ringmaster Rollo and his mysterious clown troupe arrive in Redhaven, Frankie discovers their visit may be connected to a child who vanished years ago. Convinced they’ve now set their sights on her little brother, Frankie must convince her friends to help uncover the truth and stop the clowns before her brother disappears with them for good.
Adam Lewinson, chief content officer at Tubi praises the work of our favorite nostaglic nightmare novelist, saying:
“R.L. Stine has been the first taste of fear for legions of fans — and the beginning of a lifelong love of horror [..] Tubi’s collection of R.L. Stine movies gives longtime fans more of the stories that sparked their imaginations, while welcoming new audiences to the thrill of being scared.”
Stine himself adds:
Clowns have been scaring kids long before I ever got to them — I just gave them a reason to be afraid of the ones in Redhaven.
Look out for more on R.L. Stine's Afraid of Clowns as we get it, and don't miss R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead 2 on Tubi on October 9.
