What would you do to rescue the person you love, even if it means going off the rails? Deadline reports that Dinner in America director Adam Carter Rehmeier is set to direct the new thriller Seeker, which pits a bereaved Uber driver against someone he suspects to be guilty of a heinous crime.
No cast has been set for Seeker, but the film is written by Michael Learner and comes from Hammerstone Studios, which also produced Zach Cregger’s Barbarian. Per Deadline, the film’s synopsis is as follows:
Seeker follows Grant, a man haunted by the unexplained disappearance of his fiancée five years earlier. Now an Uber driver, his life is upended when he picks up a passenger he becomes convinced was responsible for her disappearance. The film begins as a tense game of cat and mouse before spiraling into something far stranger, more disturbing, and deeply unhinged.
“With Seeker, I wanted to write something as propulsive and unpredictable as possible, while grounded in a personal story about obsession and loss,” says Learner. “Adam has such a singular voice as a filmmaker and an incredible ability to find humanity in his characters. I can’t imagine a better filmmaker to bring Seeker to life.”
Seeker is produced by Learner and Alex Lebovici for Hammerstone, alongside Adam McKay, Todd Schulman, Noah Centineo, and Enzo Marc. Executive producers include Ibrahim Mohammed, Chase Vergari, Karina Manashil, Alex Kaplunov, and David Goldman.
Rehmeier is best known for his cult comedy Dinner in America, which was a hit when it premiered at Sundance in 2020, before getting a wide release in 2022. He recently helmed the crime thriller Carolina Caroline, starring horror icons Samara Weaving and Kyle Gallner — and since Gallner also starred in Dinner in America, I wonder if he’ll make an appearance in Rehmeier's newest?
