Onslaught, the upcoming ‘gonzo action-horror' from You're Next director Adam Wingard, hits theaters on September 24, with A24 today unveiled an explosive new trailer:
Starring Adria Arjona (Andor), scream king Dan Stevens (Cuckoo AMC's The Devil in Silver), Drew Starkey (Queer) and Rebecca Hall (Godzilla vs. Kong), Onslaught was written by frequent Wingard collaborator Simon Barrett, and follows badass Army sniper who must unleash hell to protect her young daughter when a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers – Crybaby, Cockroach and the ominously named The Butcher – break loose in the desert.
Reginald VelJohnson (Die Hard), Michael Biehn (Aliens) and Tim & Eric‘s Eric Wareheim also star, with MMA artist Alex Pereira as the Butcher.
At a recent SDCC appearance, Wingard teased that Onslaught serves as something of a spiritual sequel to The Guest, although isn't, as many fans speculated, a direct continuation of the 2014 cult fave.
Onslaught looks like it could end up being another genre hit for A24, who are already having a massive year thanks to the success of Kane Parson's Backrooms, currently the company's highest-grossing film to date
