If you've ever had the misfortune of learning about their, err, unusual self-defence techniques, you'll know hippos aren't an animal to be messed with. The new trailer for animal attack thriller Hungry, hitting VOD on June 23 from Aura Entertainment, proves that in spades:

Directed by James Nunn (One Shot trilogy) and starring Madison Davenport (Sharp Objects), Hungry follows thrill-seeking tourists on a riverboat tour through the treacherous Louisiana swamplands. Lured off the beaten path by the promise of an exclusive adventure, they soon find themselves fighting for survival against a ravenous hippopotamus lurking beneath the bayou’s murky waters.
Also starring in Hungry are Joaquim de Almeida (Road House), Tracey Bonner (The Exorcism), Jim Meskimen (Apollo 13), Samantha Coughlan (Damage), Olivia Bernstone (Mood) Michel Curiel (She Hulk: Attorney At Law) and River Codack (Under the Bridge).
Hungry joins the recent renaissance of animal attack horror-thrillers, with a slate that includes Johannes Roberts' Primate, the recent Anaconda reboot starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd, Netflix's Cujo remake, Morihito Inoue’s horror-comedy Hot Spring Shark Attack and its upcoming sequel, Dangerous Animals, and Tina Romero's recently-announced “big gay shark horror movie“, Jawline, to name but a few. Long may the creatures reign.
Hungry hits VOD on June 23. Check out a new poster below:
