We can't imagine it'll be up for long, considering how much trouble the upcoming pseudo-reboot has had with censors, but today brings a new Red Band trailer for Faces of Death, ahead of its cover spot on our upcoming subscriber cover. Brace yourself:

From Cam director Daniel Goldhaber, the unsurprisingly R-rated Faces of Death will officially hit theaters on April 10 via Independent Film Company (their widest release to date) and Shudder.

Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria) and Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things) star in the gory new pic, with support from Josie Totah, Jermaine Fowler and Charli XCX (soon to be possessed by a slasher spirit in the upcoming Untitled Kyoto from Japanese genre legend Takashi Miike), who looks to be taking on the role of a desensitized gorehound in the new trailer.

The new Faces of Death ditches the documentary format of John Alan Schwartz's notorious 1978 faux-snuff cult classic original, with a new story from Goldhaber, Isa Mazzei, and Isabelle Link-Levy that revolves around a female moderator of a YouTube-like website, whose job is to weed out offensive and violent content and who herself is recovering from a serious trauma, that stumbles across a group that is recreating the murders from the original film:

But in the story primed for the digital age and age of online misinformation, the question faced is are the murders real or fake?

In case you haven't seen the original Faces of Death, or heard of it from its controversial reputation, Schwartz's mondo horror contained footage showing different gruesome ways of dying from a variety of sources, including parachute jumps, snake bites and more horrific scenes. While many of these were faked for the film, Faces of Death also included pre-existing video footage of real deaths and the gory, grisly aftermath. You might be wondering, in big 2026, where we're fully aware of the fakery of movie magic, how exactly are Mazzei and Goldhaber going to navigate this suspension of disbelief? Their answer kind of creeped us out.
