Director Chloe Okuno (Watcher, V/H/S/94) and writer April Wolfe (Black Christmas, Clawfoot) are teaming up for a new take on possessed appendage horror with Bad Hand, a new thriller at Searchlight Pictures.
Per Deadline, who reported the news exclusively earlier today, Bad Hand follows a mild mannered kindergarten teacher who the week before her wedding, is the victim of a hit and run. In the wake of the accident, she discovers to her horror that the trauma has caused her right hand to act with a mind of its own, bent on bloody revenge.
Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, and Alison Small will produce the pic for Brownstone Productions. Head of Acquisitions and Production Chan Phung and Director of Acquisitions and Production Marielle Membreno are overseeing the project for Searchlight Pictures.
Bad Hand will be Okuno's next horror feature after the recently-wrapped Brides, which stars Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon) as a woman who travels to a remote Italian villa with her husband, only to find that the owner of the villa, a mysterious count, takes a peculiar interest in her.
No news yet on who will star in Bad Hand, but we'd love to see scream queen Maika Monroe (previously tapped to star in Brides before scheduling conflicts led to Cooke stepping in) reunite with Okuno after the 2022 psychological thriller Watcher, in which Monroe played a young woman being watched by a creepy neighbour.
Look out for more updates on Bad Hand as we get it.
