Audiences have been eagerly awaiting Mike Flanaganโ€™s Carrie series since it was announced, and now a key star may have just let slip when itโ€™s going to hit our screens. As a part of her appearance at last weekendโ€™s Fan Expo in Vancouver, star Katee Sackhoff revealed that we can expect the series to premiere sometime this fall.

Per The Direct, Sackhoff discussed the series in vague terms during her panel, but was able to reveal an appropriately spooky release window for the series. โ€œOctober of 2026, Carrie comes out on Amazon,โ€ she said. โ€œYou guys are in for a treat. It's very good. It's very good.” She was tight-lipped about what exactly we can expect from the show, but she did tease fire, flame, and blood, which are to be expected for an adaptation of the seminal Stephen King novel.ย

โ€œHe's very, very good at adapting Stephen King,โ€ Sackhoff said of Flanagan, โ€œand Stephen trusts him. So, as you can tell in the press, Stephen's giving him his entire library. He's like, ‘You can do this one and you can do this one. How about this one? How about this one?'”

Carrie stars Summer H. Howell as the titular protagonist, along with Siena Adugong as Sue Snell, Matthew Lillard, Amber Midthunder, Samantha Sloyan, Alison Thornton, Thalia Dudek, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, and Joel Oulette. According to Lillard, the series is going to update Kingโ€™s seminal novel for a modern audience:ย

โ€œSo, it's Stephen King's first published book, it has gone through all these iterations. I think the exciting thing here is that Mike has found a way to make it relevant right now, and I think that it speaks to what we're all experiencing, and so I think that that's going to make a difference.โ€

Originally published in 1974, Carrie was Kingโ€™s first novel, which was made into a film just two years later. Directed by Brian de Palma and starring scream queen Sissy Spacek, the adaptation was an instant hit, even if it changed some aspects of the novel (including Carrieโ€™s weight), and is largely considered the best adaptation of the novel to date. A sequel, The Rage: Carrie 2, was released in 1999 to dismal reviews and even worse box office numbers, and a new version of the story was also made in 2013, starring Chloรซ Grace Moretz as Carrie White.
