When we learned that Sam Raimi was returning to horror with Send Help, we were ecstatic. When we learned that Raimi would once again team up with composer Danny Elfman, we lost it. Elfman's Send Help score is now available for your listening pleasure on all digital platforms from Hollywood Recordsย and 20th Century Studios. The movie is a genre mashup with a score from Elfman to match. From horror stingers to adventure and even some unexpectedly tender romantic music cues. Below you can listen to a sneak preview of three music cues from Elfman's original score.
“Hiking Together” offers a grand, sweeping adventure. If you close your eyes, you can almost see the lush island landscape. “Strategy and Planning” offers a momentarily tender reprise before launching into a thrilling crescendo and going off a cliff, slightly unhinged.
“The Waterfall” features some female vocalization that may sound familiar. During our recent advance screening and Q&A with Danny Elfman, the composer shared he was inspired by the score from a legendary horror film. “My first thought was to find a really innocent theme for Linda and use a female voice. I was kind of inspired by Rosemaryโs Baby. But then let that run throughout the score so that by the time weโre getting into the last act, that same theme has kind of a twisted edge to it.โ
If you missed our in person Q&A with Elfman, you can watch the full thing right here! Listen to all three music cues below, and check outย Send Help now in theaters (and on the subscriber cover of FANGORIA #30).
TheSend Help original motion picture soundtrack is now available on Apple, Spotify, Amazon, and YouTube.
