It's been a good while since we heard anything aboutย Faces of Death, the upcoming (sort of) reboot of John Alan Schwartz's notorious 1978 faux-snuff cult classic, but today brings a disturbing first teaser as well as a release date.

Fromย Cam directors Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber, the unsurprisingly R-rated Faces of Death will officially hit theaters on April 10 via Legendary Entertainment.

Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria) and Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things) star in the gory new pic, with support from Josie Totah, Jermaine Fowler and Miss Brat Summer herself, Charli XCX.

Per previous reports, the new Faces of Death ditches the documentary format of the original, and revolves around a female moderator of a YouTube-like website, whose job is to weed out offensive and violent content and who herself is recovering from a serious trauma, that stumbles across a group that is recreating the murders from the original film:

But in the story primed for the digital age and age of online misinformation, the question faced is are the murders real or fake?

Mazzei, Goldhaber, and Isabelle Link-Levy came up with the new story.

In case you haven't seen the original Faces of Death, or heard of it from its controversial reputation, Schwartz's mondo horror contained footage showing different gruesome ways of dying from a variety of sources, including parachute jumps, snake bites and more horrific scenes. While many of these were faked for the film, Faces of Death also included pre-existing video footage of real deaths and the gory, grisly aftermath. Understandably, the pic was banned and censored in many countries following its release, earning itself a spot on the UK's infamous “Video Nasty” list, and traumatizing generations of viewers who stumbled across it. We don't recommend seeking it out if you're of a sensitive disposition.

The newย Faces of Death teaser trailer is apparently too taboo for the studio to run, so it's up to us horror outlets to spread the news. Check it out below if you dare, and for more, here's all the other upcoming horror movies we're excited for in 2026.
