Itโ€™s that time of year: Sundance Film Festival is right around the corner, and as it prepares for its final year in Park City, Utah, where the festival was founded by the late Robert Redford, the Sundance Institute has announced the feature-length films that will be screening both in person and online โ€” including several hotly anticipated horror films.ย

Some of the horror titles featured in Sundanceโ€™s Midnight section, which includes everything from horror and thrillers to off-the-wall comedies, include Buddy, starring Cristin Milioti and Topher Grace, Mum, Iโ€™m Alien Pregnant, Rock Springs, starring Benedict Wong and Kelly Marie Tran, the Australian horror Saccharine, Ian Tuasonโ€™s undertone, and queer horror Leviticus. These terrifying titles are also joined by the documentary The Best Summer, a documentary featuring bands like Bikini Kill, Sonic Youth, and the Beastie Boys.ย

Also screening as part of the festivalโ€™s Episodic Programming are the first three episodes of Bait, a new thriller series starring and created by Riz Ahmed. Also featuring comedian Guz Khan, the series follows a struggling actor whose life spirals out of control after auditioning for the role of a lifetime, landing himself in the middle of a terrifying conspiracy.ย

But thatโ€™s not all โ€” a few thrillers have snuck their way into the festivalโ€™s main programming. With a cast that includes Natalie Portman, Jenna Ortega, Sterling K. Brown, Daโ€™Vine Joy Randolph, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, The Gallerist follows a desperate woman attempting to sell a dead body as a piece of art, while Night Nurse takes place in a retirement home receiving a series of perverse and increasingly disturbing scam calls.ย

โ€œAs we prepare to gather for this landmark edition of our Festival in a cherished locale, weโ€™re also honoring the enduring impact of our beloved founder, Robert Redford, and celebrating what he created: a dynamic home for independent, global storytelling,โ€ said Eugene Hernandez, the festivalโ€™s public programming director. โ€œIn announcing this yearโ€™s selection, weโ€™ve hit a major milestone on the road to the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. With 44 days to go, weโ€™re proud to conclude our survey of submissions from artists around the world, curating a bold selection of new voices and renowned artists alike that we invite audiences to discover next month.โ€
