Fresh off of its FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards sweep, Ryan Coogler'sย Sinnersย has snapped itself up seven nominations for the Golden Globes Awards 2026.
The vampire epic is up for seven awards, including Best Picture – Drama, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for star Michael B. Jordan and his double take on twins Smoke and Stack, Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, Best Director – Motion Picture and Screenplay for Coogler, Original Score for Ludwig Gรถransson and Original Song for “I Lied to You”.
Other horror hits among the nominees are Guillermo del Toro'sย Frankenstein for Best Picture – Drama and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for Oscar Isaac as the titular Baron. Zach Cregger's Weapons scored a nom for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
Need we remind you that Sinners, which also starred a stacked ensemble cast of Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack OโConnell, Wunmi Mosaku, Li Jun Li , Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller and the legendary Delroy Lindo, had an absolutely stellar box office run earlier this year thanks to a tremendous initial release, additional screenings by popular demand, word-of-mouth momentum and โexceptional holdsโ in huge international markets. Even in a year of incredibly stiff competition rom The Conjuring: Last Rites,ย Weapons,ย Final Destination: Bloodlines andย 28 Years Later, Sinners racked up over $360 million racked up at the global box office, making itย not only the biggest horror box office winner of 2025, but also the biggest original Hollywood moviesince Christopher Nolan's Inception back in 2010.
While Golden Globes nominations don't strictly correlate with Academy Awards success, there is often overlap between the two. Last year, Coralie Fargeat'sย The Substance took home Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture โ Musical or Comedy for star Demi Moore, proving that Globes voters aren't afraid to recognize the achievements of our favorite genre.
We've already laid out whyย Sinners deserves to win big at the Oscars, and taking home a Globe or two certainly wouldn't hurt those chances. Fingers crossed, and we'll keep you updated when the Golden Globes airs on January 11, 2026.
