The idea of collecting Street Trash sounds odd in theory, but you won’t want to miss this release from Lightbulb Film Distribution. They’ve just announced a new 4K Blu-ray release of the goopy ‘80s cult film, celebrating nearly forty years of low-budget gore.
Directed by J. Michael Muro, the so-called “melt movie” stars Mike Lackey, Vic Noto, and Bill Chepil, made for $100,000 and originally premiering in 1987. The film’s synopsis is as follows:
Two young runaways live in a derelict junkyard in Brooklyn. Life is hard, but the biggest threat to these vagabonds is the mysterious case of Tenafly Viper in Ed's liquor store. This stuff is over forty years old… and it's gone bad. REAL bad!

The collector’s edition of Street Trash features a new Blu-ray release, housed in a VHS box designed by illustrator Graham Humphreys. Limited to 2,000 copies, the new release features over five hours of special features, including newly recorded audio commentaries with Andrew Marshall-Roberts, James Simpson, and Jason Impey, deleted scenes, and the original 16mm concept short film. Fans will also get to take home an A3 poster, five character art cards, and a beer mat, all designed by Humphreys.
“We are delighted to be bringing Street Trash ’87 to 4K UHD for the very first time and to celebrate this classic melt movie in all its, gloopy, gunky glory,” says Matthew Kreuzer. “And with Graham Humphreys designing the incredible new artwork and inserts for this special edition along with Jason Impey supplying some wonderfully insightful, never-seen-before extras and commentaries ensures that all boxes were ticked. We are over the moon with how the final package looks and plays, and we can’t wait to hear and see horror fans’ reactions when they receive the Limited Collector’s Edition VHS Box in their hands.”
To celebrate the Blu-ray release, UK audiences will also have an opportunity to see the film on the big screen in May, at locations like the Prince Charles Cinema in London and the CultPlex in Manchester. (More details on that will be available in the coming weeks.)
Street Trash arrives on Blu-ray and digital on April 27, and is available to pre-order now.
