Before he made waves in M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap, Josh Hartnett faced off against some of the most vicious vampires in cinema history — and now you can witness it in 4K. Icon Film Distribution just announced details for a new 4K steelbook release of 30 Days of Night, the chilling horror that celebrates its 20th anniversary next year.

Starring Hartnett alongside Danny Huston and Melissa George, 30 Days of Night is directed by David Slade and based on the beloved comic book series by Steve Niles. The film’s synopsis, for those who haven’t seen the cult classic, is as follows:

For centuries, vampires have stayed in the dark, forced to hide each morning or else be destroyed by the burning power of the sun. But that’s all about to change, when a group of marauding and bloodthirsty vampires led by Marlow, discover Barrow, Alaska; a remote, isolated town that is plunged into a state of complete darkness for 30 days every winter. As the merciless predators commence their month-long feast of the helpless residents, it is up to Sheriff Eben, his estranged wife, Stella, and an ever-shrinking group of survivors to do anything and everything they can to last until daylight.

The new 4K release of the film features a 16bit color depth restoration from Silver Salt Restoration, and comes with exclusive special features, including interviews with Slade, Niles, composer Brian Reitzell, and star Mark Rendall, eight special making-of documentaries, a new audio commentary from Kim Newman and Sean Hogan, a rerelease of an audio commentary with Hartnett, George, and producer Rob Tapert, and “Bloodlust: Cinema’s Most Vicious Vamps,” a new visual essay by Chris Alexander.

All of this comes packaged in a new Ultra HD Steelbook with cover art by Suspiria Vilchez, that also includes a limited edition booklet featuring new essays by Sara Finoro and Mary Beth McAndrews, with a foreword by Slade.

30 Days of Night arrives on 4K Ultra HD on July 27, and is available for pre-order now.
