The First 28 YEARS LATER Trailer Is Here – And It’s Terrifying

The first in a brand new post-apocalyptic horror trilogy hits theaters on June 20, 2025.

While not quite 28 years, 28 Years Later, the long-awaited sequel to both 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, is finally closer than ever before, with its first trailer dropping today following last week's cryptic teaser.

Uniting director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland, the dream team behind the 2002 original, 28 Years Later is set to release on June 20, 2025. The post-apocalyptic horror stars Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Jack O'Connell and Erin Kellyman, with 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy returning to his role as Jim, and also coming onboard as executive producer.

As previously reported, 28 Years Later marks the start of an entire new trilogy, the second of which, reportedly titled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple, is directed by Candymanโ€˜s Nia DaCosta. No news yet on the third entry, or who will direct.

Today's new trailer teases more of the plot of 28 Years Later, which Fiennes already revealed in an interview with IndieWire:

Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities. And it centers on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother.

He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain. But of course, around them hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected. But he finds a doctor who is a man we might think is going to be weird and odd, but actually is a force for good.

It's also downright terrifying, showcasing some grisly infected while Rudyard Kipling's “Boots” poem is read eerily over the top. There's also what looks to be a very familiar looking ‘zombie', so make of that what you will. Whatever the case, if you weren't already, it's time to get hyped as hell for 28 Years Later.
