After what feels like 1,000 years of January, we're officially past the toughest month of the year! For making it through the cold, dark dredges of January, you deserve a treat in the form of a new addition to your physical media shelf this February. Plus, with Valentine's Day on the horizon, there's no better time to show your love for your partner, or yourself, by grabbing one of this month's best 4K and Blu-ray horror releases.

    Despite being roasted to a crisp in his last cinematic outing, everyone's favorite tiny toy terror returned in the 1990 sequelย Child's Play 2, which gets a new Steelbook 4K UHD + Blu-ray release exclusively through Amazon later this month.

    Written by series architect Don Mancini and directed by John Lafia, Child's Play 2 sees Chucky rise from the ashes after being reconstructed by a toy factory to dispel the negative publicity surrounding the doll. Back in one piece, the mini maniac tracks the young Andy to a foster home where the chase begins again. Scream Factory's new release comes with audio commentary from Lafia, interviews with Mancini and stars Alex Vincent, Christine Elise and Beth Grant, additional scenes and more.

    Legendary British genre studio Hammer has been giving a whole bunch of classic titles brand new physical media upgrades, with the latest being the 1970 folk horror Cry of the Banshee. Directed by Gordon Kessler and starring the inimitable Vincent Price. Inย Cry of the Banshee, a despotic Elizabethan magistrate (Price) unwittingly curses his family to supernatural murder.

    Hammer's new release ofย Cry of the Banshee comes with both Hessler's original director's cut (in both widescreen and full-frame aspect ratios) and AIP's re-edited theatrical version, both restored in 4K. Extras include a new commentary with film-maker and horror film fan Chris Alexander, a new interview with author and film critic Kim Newman, and and archive interview with Hessler.

    Followingย Saw but beforeย Insidious, James Wan released the considerably less successful supernatural horrorย Dead Silence, which has thankfully gone on to garner quite the cult fanbase since 2007. The supernatural horror stars True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten a young widower returning to his hometown to search for answers to his wife's death, which may or may not be connected to a creepy ventriloquist doll.

    Scream Factory's new 4K release comes with interviews with Wan and writer Leigh Whannell, an interview with ventriloquist dummy creator Tim Selberg, deleted scenes, alternate endings and more.

    The Dead Thing, the first horror feature directed by Elric Kane, co-host of Fangoโ€™s Colors of the Dark podcast, gets a brand new shiny release from Shudder and Vinegar Syndrome this month. The erotic horror, which stars Blu Hunt (The New Mutants) and stuntman-turned-actor Ben Smith-Petersen (Mad Max: Fury Road), follows a young woman trapped in a downward spiral of shallow hookups and tepid connections, who is caught off guard when her dating app swipes lead her into the arms of a mysterious, charming young man.

    The special limited edition of Shudder and Vinegar Syndrome's new release of The Dead Thingย comes with a brand new slipcase featuring art by renowned horror artist Trevor Henderson, commentary with Kane, booklet with new writing by film critic and erotic thriller expert Travis Woods, and more.

    Sword and sorcery made a triumphant comeback last year with Steven Kostanski's Deathstalkerย reboot. Starring Daniel Bernhardt as the titular warrior and Patton Oswalt providing the voice of wizard companion Doodad,ย Deathstalker showcases Kostanski's signature practical FX magic while also removing a lot of the, err, nastiness from the 1983 original.

    Shout Factory's new release ofย Deathstalker comes with new commentaries from Kostanski and Bernhardt, interviews, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more.

    Dan Trachtenberg's revival of theย Predator franchise continued last year with the explosive Predator: Badlands. Starring Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach) and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatang (The Panthers, Red, White & Brass), the sci-fi horror put, for the first time, a Yautja warrior front and center in a protagonist role, as a young outcast finds an unlikely ally in a humanoid android.

    Bonus features on the new Predator: Badlands SteelBook release include deleted scenes, featurettes going behind-the-scenes on film's incredible VFX, a new mini-doc that gives an extended peek at Predator culture, and more.

    J-horror master Takashi Shimizu (Ju-On) returned to the genre back in 2023 with Sana and its 2024 sequel Sana: Let Me Hear, which come bundled together in a new limited edition release from Arrow. In Sana, a J-pop supergroup discover a mysterious cassette tape containing a cursed melody, while inย Let Me Hear, the history behind the curse is further revealed.

    Arrow's new release ofย Sana andย Let Me Hear comes with a new interview with Shimizu, making-of featurettes, a brand new filmed introduction discussing the evolution of the much misunderstood J-horror genre, new writing and more.

    The latest release from Vinegar Syndrome sub-label Vinegar Syndrome Labs (VSL),ย The Snow Creature marks another lovingly restored snapshot of a point in classic horror history, the atomic age of the 1950s. W. Lee Wilder's monster movie sees a scientific expedition discover a Yeti who they then fly back to America – spoiler alert, it doesn't really want to be there.

    VSL's release ofย The Snow Creature comes scanned and restored in 4K from its 35mm fine grain master, with bonus features including interviews and a commentary track.

    While we're in a monster movie renaissance, 88 Films is giving Wes Craven's Swamp Thing an absolutely massive release swamped (heh) with special features. The 1982 superhero-horror based on the DC Comics characterย tells the story of scientist Alec Holland (Ray Wise) who is transformed into the monster known as Swamp Thing (Dick Durock) through laboratory sabotage orchestrated by the evil supervillain Anton Arcane.

    88 Films' stacked release of Swamp Thingย comes with an archive audio commentaries from Craven and more, interviews, video essays, art cards, a double-sided poster and more.

    Emilie Blichfeldt's Oscar-nominated gore-geous gilded body horror The Ugly Stepsister, one of our top picks for the best of 2025, gets the deluxe release treatment from Second Sight Films just in time for the most romantic season.

    The twisted take on the classic Cinderella fairytale, which was a hit following its pukey premiere at Sundance, stars Lea Myren, Thea Sofie Loch Nรฆss, and Ane Dahl Torp, and follows Elvira (Myren), as she prepares to earn the princeโ€™s affection at any cost, tapeworms and all.

    Second Sight's new release of The Ugly Stepsister is a FANGORIA family affair, featuring essays from Community and Content Manager Kimberly Leszak, regular contributor BJ Colangelo, and yours truly.
