THE BLACK PHONE (2021)

The trailer for The Black Phone just dropped, and it’s a trip (through time).

The film, co-written by director Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, is based on Joe Hill’s short story of the same name, and as we discussed last month, it does a remarkable job of recreating what it felt like to be a frightened kid in the 1970s. It’s violent and ugly and nothing feels safe; at the same time, there’s a sense of mystery and magic, and of a world full of things unknown. The trailer evokes the final film pretty well, but there are still surprises aplenty in store.

The Black Phone opens on February 4th.
