Yes, there will be an “INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3”
It will come as no surprise following the $41-million opening of “INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2” over the weekend, but a third installment in the horrific franchise is already in the works.
Variety reports that series regular screenwriter Leigh Whannell (pictured above with Angus Sampson) has signed to script the next chapter; James Wan’s involvement is less likely, given that he’ll be busy for a while on FAST & FURIOUS 7 and has spoken of a desire to move away from horror for a while. Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions and Oren Peli are returning to produce the third INSIDIOUS for Entertainment One, FilmDistrict and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions; a targeted release date has not been announced. Nor has a storyline been revealed, although (SPOILER ALERT) the ending of CHAPTER 2 suggests that a Furthering of the story would follow the ghost hunters played by Whannell and Sampson, not the Lambert family headed by Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne.
