Will Danny Trejo Headline Season 2 of “FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES”?Movies/TV,News Ken W. Hanley
With the first season of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES just weeks away from concluding, curiosity has been building as to where the show could possibly go in its second. According to two trusted sources, FANGORIA has gotten word that the second season of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN might feature one of Robert Rodriguez’s most valuable players: Danny Trejo!
FANGORIA had first received word that Trejo may appear in season two of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES a few weeks prior, but this writer had approached the information with a grain of salt. As the series has unfolded however, several statements made related to the most recent episodes of the show—which had not been made available for press at the time—have proved true.
While Rodriguez has denied Trejo’s involvement as recently as the premiere of the pilot at South by Southwest, recent evidence has shown that Trejo might be appearing on the second season of El Rey’s flagship series after all. Without delving in spoilers for the upcoming gamechanging episode that airs tonight, “Pandemonium”, evidence suggests that there has been some misdirection in the show’s press rounds, especially in regards to the mythology and the identity of several characters.
You can also always hear it straight from Trejo’s mouth, who confirmed his involvement on the show during his appearance on The Opie and Anthony Show on April 9th. When asked about Rodriguez’s El Rey Network, Trejo responded, “[Robert] has the FROM DUSK TILL DAWN series, which I will be on next season.” What is not known is the extent of Trejo’s supposed involvement, although our source claims that Trejo will be playing a major villain, rather than reprise his role as Razor Charlie.
Nevertheless, when reached for comment, El Rey cited Robert’s previous denial of Trejo on the series, and a call to Trejo’s camp went unanswered as of this writing. So until we see Trejo grace the screen of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES or an official confirmation, this is still only speculation. But considering he is no stranger to the small screen, appearing on such shows as BREAKING BAD and SONS OF ANARCHY, it would be no surprise to see Trejo as a villainous vampire once again.
FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES airs the gory and revelatory episode, “Panedemonium” at 9 p.m. tonight on The El Rey Network.
