“WHY HORROR?” You can help reveal the answer!

WHYHORRORFEAT

The enduring appeal of our favorite genre is the subject of WHY HORROR?, a new documentary set to premiere in time for next Halloween. A crowd-funding campaign has just been launched to allow fans to be a part of it.

In WHY HORROR?, actor/comedian/Fangoria.com contributor Tal Zimerman explores media, various cultures and the psychology of horror worldwide to determine just why we love to be scared. “Why do I not only subject myself to multiple shocking sights and sounds, but why do I thrive on it?” Zimerman asks. “Isn’t this stuff supposed to repulse me? With all the real-life tragedy in the world, why would anyone want to escape to the world of horror?” Helping him answer that are award-winning director/producer/editors Rob Lindsay and Nicolas Kleiman, along with such interviewees as John Carpenter, George A. Romero, Steve Niles and Eli Roth.

For the final stage of fundraising for WHY HORROR?, the filmmakers have launched a “31 Days of Horror” Kickstarter campaign, allowing fans to interact with Zimerman and filmmakers, suggest ideas and even become part of the movie, along with other perks and rewards. “This documentary is a way to connect horror lovers, film buffs, sociologists—everybody can come together with a different interest in this project,” Zimerman says. “We’re offering ourselves up to the community in a way nobody has attempted before. We just hope we make it out alive!” You can learn more at the project’s official website and Facebook page.
