What’s done cannot be undone: Mariano Baino and Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni present “LADY M 5.1”Home,Movies/TV,News Adam Lee Price
The story of THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH is the classic tale of greed, political power, madness, and death. It is also Shakespeare’s shortest written tragedy. Now, Italian filmmakers Mariano Baino and Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni are giving the villainous and politically ambitious Lady Macbeth a torturous, short-film, make-over in LADY M 5.1.
Written and directed by Mariano Baino (DARK WATERS), the 23 minute film takes audiences on the torturous journey of Lady Macbeth during her pivotal Act 5, Scene 1 soliloquy. In this horrific re-imaging, Lady Macbeth must relive her most tragic moment in an endless time loop while an ominous, bio-mechanical life-form studies her descent in madness. Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni (PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, DEMONS 2, MOTHER OF TEARS), best known for her work with filmmaker Dario Argento, gives a haunting performance as Lady M, earning her an award of excellence at the Best Shorts Competition.
As well as producing and starring in LADY M 5.1, Cataldi-Tassoni designed the costumes and wrote the mesmerizing music for the film. More so, she first brought the idea to the attention of Baino. As quoted in the press kit for the film’s release, Baino stated, “It all stared when the passionately talented Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni came up with the idea of making a short film.” He went on to say, “So I dove headfirst into an adaptation of one of the most adapted writers in history.” Together, they’ve created a short film that is hauntingly disturbing and artistically stimulating.
LADY M 5.1 will have its world premier Saturday, March 18th 2017 at the Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, NJ. Both Baino and Cataldi-Tassoni will be in attendance and following the screening will be hosting a Q&A with the audience.
