R.I.P. WES CRAVEN (1939-2015)Home,Movies/TV,News Chris Alexander No Comment
We at FANGORIA are speechless. After the loss of the Great Christopher Lee earlier this year, it is both shocking and deeply upsetting to learn of the passing of filmmaker and horror movie maverick Wes Craven, one of our founding fathers of contemporary fear. There’s not much to say about Wes, the Father of Freddy, that you , the FANGORIA reader, don’t already know. Wes was a man who gave us a celebrated series of dark, edgy and energized genre films that defined their times. Some were more definitive than others, but none were devoid of interest or ambition and all were driven by an often covert intellect.
Wes was a thoughtful, sophisticated human being who lived to make movies and found his identity on-screen sculpting weird worlds of violence, vision and absurdity. The world will not see the likes of him again and we lovers of the arcane and unusual are forever better off for his efforts.
Wes Craven. Gone at 76. Never, ever forgotten.
Over the next several days, FANGORIA will be honoring Wes with a series of features. Stay tuned.
