War Brews in Official “DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES” Trailer

A decade on from the events of RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, the new trailer for this summer’s highly anticipated DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES finds its early thrills in apes on horses, apes talking and attempting to live communally (while scrawling a very familiar law across rocks). That is, of course, until the survivors of the Flu which ravaged humanity threaten to break the uneasy peace.

Much of this lengthier look at the Matt Reeves-directed film threatens action, as if the film will tensely focus on the struggle of man and (evolved) nature learning if they can co-exist. The apes look stunning, especially in motion, which bodes well for when the inevitable clashes go down. And the outcome of said clashes is anyone’s game, as a particularly ominous wide shot finds the apes herding humans across flora-overtaken city streets.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is out July 11. Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell and Andy Serkis star.
