Trailer: Vincenzo Natali’s “HAUNTER”; A ghost story told from the other side

A great deal of haunted house pictures see a family move into a perfect new home, only to find they’ve got a restless roommate. Spooky things abound and ultimately it’s realized the entity needs some sort of help. The new film from acclaimed (and deservedly so) CUBE and SPLICE director Vincenzo Natali, appropriately titled HAUNTER, aims to tell that familiar tale from the other side.

In HAUNTER, Abigail Breslin (ZOMBIELAND) plays that stuck specter, caught in a repeating loop of what her time on Earth once was. She makes contact with a living counterpart and together they embark on stopping the malevolent killer that’s plagued the families of their house.

An atmospheric, clever and inventive—if flawed—take, HAUNTER is on VOD from IFC Films October 18th. [iTunes]
