Trailer: Neil Jordan’s “BYZANTIUM” looks lush

Neil Jordan, of COMPANY OF WOLVES and INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE fame returns to creatures of the latter with something to swoon over.

Plenty of beauty, plenty of longing abound in this trailer for BYZANTIUM, a film that spans centuries as a mother-daughter duo of vampire transients remain forever hunted. Following KISS OF THE DAMNED, it’s lovely to see a seeming comeback of the properly sweeping, haunting vampire tales that the empty, mouth-agape stares of TWILIGHT just couldn’t nail.

Gemma Arterton, Saoirse Ronan, Sam Riley and Caleb Landry Jones star. IFC releases BYZANTIUM on June 28. For more, you can see our review from last fall’s Toronto International Film Festival, as well as some comments from Ronan here. [iTunes]
