Trailer: NBC’s “DRACULA” takes a bloody jaunt through London

NBC’s DRACULA, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the world’s most iconic vampire, boasted a large presence outside the San Diego Convention Center this past weekend. Each morning, I walked past an ever growing line of con-goers and curious residents alike, awaiting entrance into “Dracula’s Crypt.” I assume this is what played inside.

What’s perhaps most interesting about this clip highlighting the bloody, seductive and lushly designed nature of the upcoming series, is the closeness of its shots. Will DRACULA be confrontational when immersing its audience in blood spurts and crotch grinds and fang baring?

In DRACULA, It’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night – useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: he hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

DRACULA premieres Friday, October 25 at 10 p.m.
