Trailer: Marc Carreté’s Exorcism Road Movie, “ASMODEXIA”

ASMODEXIABirth

It’s thrilling when a trailer is able to convey stark mood like ASMODEXIA’s is. The film, from Spanish filmmaker Marc Carreté combines the all-too-familiar exorcist/demonic possession setup and combines it with something of a road movie in which a pastor and his granddaughter roam Spain to alleviate those afflicted by one entity in particular. It seems their destinations provide more than a few chills.

Coming soon from Raven Banner, ASMODEXIA concerns Eloy de Palma, an exorcist pastor roaming the darkest corners of the country with his granddaughter Alba. Their mission is to help those possessed by The Evil One, an infection of the soul that is spreading fast, especially among the most vulnerable members of society: children, mental patients, and drug addicts. There is also a mysterious cult following them, making it more difficult to help those in need. Each exorcism is tougher than the one before, and every battle with Evil reveals a piece of young Alba’s forgotten past – an enigma that if unconcealed could change the world as we know it.

No date is currently set for the film, but based on its preview, we’ll be watching closely for one. For much more, see our lengthy interview with director and co-writer Carreté in which he previews what to expect from ASMODEXIA.

Update: FANGORIA has been asked to remove the ASMODEXIA trailer. It looks great, and we will update when it is back online.
