Trailer: “FANTASM” doc delves into the community of Horror Cons

As the wise Tom Atkins saying goes, “They don’t have conventions for ‘love meets cute’ kind of films.

Beneath the overpriced photos, there is heart in the convention circuit, something filmmaker Kyle Kuchta aims to explore in FANTASM. The doc interviews fans, vendors and many of our favorite genre stars including the aforementioned Atkins, Heather Langenkamp, Lloyd Kaufman and WRONG TURN 2 director Joe Lynch to get to the core of what keeps us coming back.

Kuchta says, “FANTASM was filmed over six conventions, and I felt myself growing closer and closer to the genre that we all love so much. It means a lot to be able to share that love with people, and that’s what FANTASM is all about.”

Currently in post production, you can keep up with the film’s progress at the official Facebook and Twitter. If you’re in Syracuse, you can eat at Dinosaur BBQ and then catch an abridged version of the film  for free at Syracuse University’s Shemin Auditorium as part of the school’s Class of 2013 Film Showcase on May 4th.
