Trailer: All-American Boy Transforms in David Hayter’s “WOLVES”

David Hayter, co-writer of X2 and WATCHMEN, is making his feature directorial debut with what looks like a werewolf bonanza.

WOLVES is seemingly trading in all-American signifiers like small town boys, football, bowler hats, desert village-occupying bands of outlaw werewolves, ranches, antler-adorned werewolf thrones, rural bars, werewolves in varisty jackets, etc. I mean, the list goes on. In the film, Lucas Til plays a high school athlete, who finds himself transforming and sets off to find the cause. That leads him to Lupine Ridge, where two clans of wolves are on the brink of war. The opposing clans are lead by Connor, the powerful, pure-blood alpha of a savage pack and John Tollerman, an old farmer, committed to protecting the human citizens of Lupine Ridge. But when Cayden falls for Angelina, the beautiful, young mate promised to Connor, a battle to the death is inevitable. And as the past begins to reveal itself, Cayden’s place in the world becomes clearer — as does his power to put an end to the savage violence building up around, and within him…

There seems to be plenty of pure, fairly dumb, goofy, open your mouth as wide as you can and growl fun here. Plus, Stephen McHattie and Jason Momoa as grit-talking wolf leaders. Keep an eye on Fango for more on WOLVES soon.
