Toys of Terror #8Fearful Features,Game and Toy Reviews,News Ken W. Hanley
Welcome to TOYS OF TERROR, Fango’s weekly feature exhibiting the coolest horror accessories across the web. Whether you’re a collector, connoisseur or simply making your love of horror a family affair, these petrifying playthings are likely to impress even the most heartless horror fan. So if you’re searching for a ghoulish gift, look no further…
First this week on Toys of Terror is another addition to our Funko POP! library, as they’ve finally given the timid toy treatment to the titular character of BEETLEJUICE! This 3.75 inch vinyl figure of Tim Burton’s unruly ghoul is possibly the cutest the character has ever been, and comes with a rotating head. Funko collectors won’t want to miss out on adding this bad boy to their assembly. This figure is now available to preorder for $8.99 here!
Next comes a first in this particular column, as we finally highlight a character from one of the most critically-lauded horror films of all time, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS! Care to take a guess who? This 7″ replica of Hannibal Lecter, armed with a nightstick and ready to streak, comes from the good folks over at NECA, who have highly articulated the character. Coming in a collectible prison cell background, you can get this Lecter figure for only $15.99 here!
Whenever we feature Freddy Krueger in this column, we often choose to go for the more outlandish iterations of the character and this week is no different. Another NECA creation, our third Toy of Terror is familiar to fans of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER. This 7″ figure is a recreation of Freddy’s infamous “Chest of Souls” sequence and features 8 different articulated arms on Freddy. Only available in a limited quantity, you can get your freaky Freddy for $29.99 here!
Our penultimate terror certainly boasts a nostalgia factor for those who grew up in the ’80s, or in any decade since, really. It’s Amok Time’s 7″ replica of the most sultry of scare icons, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, which comes in blister packaging with a dungeon display case and collectible skull. Not only that, but for particularly interested collectors, the Hostess with the Mostest also comes in a “winking” version as well. You can finally have your own little Elvira for $34.99 here!
And this week, we’ve saved the biggest (and most expensive) for last! Coming in at a wallet-crunching $398.99, you can own Factory Entertainment’s replica of Lawrence Talbot’s cane from THE WOLFMAN, based on the original prop itself designed by Ellis Burman! Standing at 30-inches tall, this replica was modeled based on never-before-seen imagery of the cane, as well as the guidance from the prop’s current owner, film historian Bob Burns. A limited run of 400 canes have been made featuring a solid wood shaft, metal tip, and a chrome plated 4″ by 7″ wolf handle accompanied with a story booklet, certificate of authenticity and a numbered display wall-plaque. If you’ve got the cash, you can get your piece of Universal horror history here!
