TOYS OF TERROR #44.5: The Misfits Edition!

,,

Welcome to TOYS OF TERROR, Fango’s weekly feature exhibiting the coolest horror accessories across the web. Whether you’re a collector, connoisseur or simply making your love of horror a family affair, these petrifying playthings are likely to impress even the most heartless horror fan. So if you’re searching for a ghoulish gift, look no further…

In the eyes of FANGORIA, there are a select few musical acts that are responsible for bringing together horror and music. And while credit is often given to the likes of Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, GWAR, Slipknot and more, few can argue bands that were as instrumental to bringing horror iconography to their lyrics and artwork than The Misfits, the East Coast-based punk/metal outfit whose “Fiend” logo has brought many horror fans into the punk rock fold over the years (and vice versa). And on that note, FANGORIA wanted to devote this week’s Toys of Terror to the figures of The Misfits and give credit where credit is so earnestly due.

The first figure this week is none other than the most identifiable of The Misfits macabre gallery: The Fiend! Coming from the good folks at NECA, this 8-inch figure is poseable and features tailored fabric clothing akin to toy lines of the ’70s. The Fiend also comes with three different hands and a candelabra accessory from its iconic artwork! You can pick up this frightening Fiend for $28.98 here.

The next figure is also from NECA, a red-cloaked variant of their iconic mascot! Also standing at 8-inches, this Fiend figure features many of the same accessories as the previous Fiend figure, although the fabric clothing is a vibrant blood red as opposed to pitch black. You can pick up this bad boy solo for $26.99 here, or you can get both Fiend figures for $49.99 here.

The third figure is from Misfits Records artist Osaka Popstar, with their recently debuted vinyl figures Hopping Ghosts! Based on the creature from Chinese mythology, this figure stands at 8-inches tall and was designed by Osaka Popstar frontman John Cafiero. The figure also comes with a removable spell scroll accessory as well as a download card for their new single, “Hopping Ghosts” as well as an exclusive animated instrumental version of the song. Only a limited number of these figures are available so you can pick them up for $49.99 here, or you can get an even more rare black-and-green variant on Hopping Ghosts here.
