Welcome to TOYS OF TERROR, Fango’s weekly feature exhibiting the coolest horror accessories across the web. Whether you’re a collector, connoisseur or simply making your love of horror a family affair, these petrifying playthings are likely to impress even the most heartless horror fan. So if you’re searching for a ghoulish gift, look no further…
Our first Toy of Terror this week is one I’ve admittedly held off on covering, as I wasn’t sure if he counted as a horror icon. My stubbornness was in vain however, as most horror fans could identify “Eddie” as well as they could Freddy. NECA’s 8-inch replica of Eddie—the animated face of Iron Maiden cover art—in his iconic getup from “The Trooper” comes with custom-tailored fabric, a tattered Union Jack and saber accessory. Posable and artwork-accurate, you can put Trooper Eddie on the front line of your collection for $24.99 here.
Next up: the bobblehead of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD’s Karen Cooper, a character who traumatized an entire generation of horror fans! The first ever on-screen child zombie lives once more as a 7-inch bobble head, which comes with a logo-laden base and a blood-accent on her trusty garden trowel. Horror collectors must act fast to add little Karen to their shelf as the figure is limited to only 1,000 pieces, and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD figures are few and far between. The Karen Cooper bobblehead is currently available for the clearance price of $19.99 here.
This week’s third selection is another take on a fan favorite character by a fan favorite company, as Funko POP! offers up their vision of Ash from ARMY OF DARKNESS! Standing at 3 and 3/4 inches tall, Funko’s Ash comes in vinyl with both chainsaw arm and his iconic boomstick, as well as screen-accurate garb. As opposed to other Funko figures, I’m sure many fright fans wouldwould argue this is Ash at his cutest. You can get your Funko POP! Ash here for the low, low price of $9.99.
Speaking of adored horror figures, the fourth Toy of Terror is another piece from the cult of Daryl Dixon. It won’t just be Norman Reedus’s visage that gets hearts racing with this collectible, the official Daryl Dixon Crossbow Coffee Cup! In the shape of the zombie-killing redneck’s weapon-of-choice, this product will give WALKING DEAD fans a new reason to make breakfast the most important meal of the day. Hitting stores this November, you can pre-order the Daryl Dixon Crossbow Coffee Cup for $12.99 here.
Our final Toy of Terror this week is a part of Diamond Selects’ Universal Monsters line, as they take a shot at Boris Karloff in ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEETS DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE. Authorized by the Karloff estate, this 7-inch figure comes fully articulated with interchangeable head and hands, as well as a cape, hat, cane and a display base with a screen-accurate chemistry set. Complete with exclusive collectible packaging, this Dr. Jekyll figure is a must-have for Universal Monster completists; you can get it here for $21.99.
