Toys of Terror #15
Welcome to TOYS OF TERROR, Fango’s weekly feature exhibiting the coolest horror accessories across the web. Whether you’re a collector, connoisseur or simply making your love of horror a family affair, these petrifying playthings are likely to impress even the most heartless horror fan. So if you’re searching for a ghoulish gift, look no further…
Our first Toy of Terror is perhaps one of the most underappreciated and yet still iconic monsters coming out of the classic Universal Horror era: THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON! This 7-inch Jean St. Jean sculpt of the titular creature is one of the finest crafted yet, featuring over 16 points of articulation and a display-style base that includes a skeleton and an undersea rock formation. You can turn any pool of water into the Black Lagoon this September with this customizable creature, which you can preorder for only $22.99 here!
Next up is a horror character that has been egregiously underserved thanks to the English-language remake of her landmark film, RINGU: Sadako Yamamura! Standing at 6 and 1/4th inches tall, Sadako comes from the esteemed S.H. Figuarts toy company and is fully articulated for customized creepy contortion! Even cooler is the fact that Sadako comes with a TV to crawl out from, as well as a tiny replica of her sinister tape! You can add Sadako Yamamura to your home creepshow for $49.99 here!
This week’s third Toy of Terror is one that’s had the horror crowd buzzing since it’s announcement: NECA’s deluxe replica of the Queen Xenomorph from ALIENS! Over 15 inches tall and 30 inches long, this Queen Xenomorph is stunningly realistic and scale-proportionate to the one seen on-screen! Including 30 points of articulation, plus three interchangeable mouthpieces, you can preorder the Queen Xenomorph in time for Halloween for $89.99 here!
Coming in at number four is a very special collector’s item for fans of THE WALKING DEAD: The head-optional Season Four Hershel Greene from Funko POP! At 3 and 3/4 inches, this limited edition Hershel comes with removable head and screen-accurate design, bringing Season Four’s most tragic moment to its most adorable depiction yet. However, WALKING DEAD fans might have a hard time adding it to their Funko Collection: this figure is a San Diego Comic Con exclusive and there are currently no plans to make it widely available. So if you’ve got the big bucks and the motivation to do so, look on secondhand retailers for this rare Funko Pop Headless Hershel!
Our last Toy of Terror for the week is another cinematic underdog, also looked over due to its popular remake: The 1958 version of THE FLY, now in bobblehead form! This six-inch tall replica of David Hedison’s Andre-Fly also comes in from Funko as a part of their Wacky Wobbler series! For fans of this genre gem, you can add the original FLY to your collection in all of it’s bobblehead glory for $15.99 here!
