Tom Hiddleston the latest victim of a pun about climbing the “CRIMSON PEAK”Movies/TV,News Samuel Zimmerman 1 Comment
SHERLOCK star Benedict Cumberbatch may be out, but fret not, Guillermo del Toro has managed to find another actor whose natural habitat seems cliffside in period England.
A better one? Hard to say, but I do think Tom Hiddleston is fairly extraordinary. That was confirmed this past summer at San Diego Comic-Con when I watched the actor put his all into making a live appearance as villain Loki at the Marvel panel. He’s also apparently excellent in Jim Jarmsuch’s lyrical vampire film ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (currently playing TIFF: our Chris Alexander’s review).
And so it seems, according to THR, he’ll join Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming windswept, kinky haunted house picture CRIMSON PEAK. The film, co-starring Mia Wasikowska (STOKER), Charlie Hunnam, and Jessica Chastain is a ghost story that del Toro previously revealed to FANGORIA as classic in construct, yet “…at the same time very modern in the sense that it has strong sex and violence. I’ve never done a movie that has anything remotely kinky, but this movie is a little kinky and the violence is very shocking. So you’re traversing through a tranquil Gothic romance, and all of a sudden this terrifying and sexual stuff comes in. It’s very much a haunted-house movie, but I don’t think there’s a ghost of a chance that we’ll get a PG-13 rating.”
I imagine those quotes in relation to Tom Hiddleston will get a great many Tumblr users excited. CRIMSON PEAK is slated to shoot January 2014. I severely wish my natural habitat was cliffside in period England.
