[TIFF ’13] Stark Festival Poster for Zack Parker thriller, “PROXY”Movies/TV,News Samuel Zimmerman
Premiering as part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s “provocative, sexy… possibly dangerous” Vanguard section, Zack Parker’s PROXY introduces itself as a thriller that means to challenge both its audience and “traditional cinematic form.” It’s bloody baby-featuring festival poster certainly makes an impression in that direction.
The Playlist debuted the stark one-sheet for PROXY, a film that sees A very pregnant Esther Woodhouse (Alexia Rasmussen), walking home after her latest OB appointment, brutally attacked and disfigured by a hooded assailant. When Esther seeks consolation in a support group, she finds friendship and empathy in Melanie (Alexa Havins), another mother scarred with tragedy. Esther soon begins to believe that the horrific event might be a bittersweet act of fate. However, friendship and empathy can be very dangerous things when accepted by the wrong people.
Kristina Klebe and filmmaker/actor Joe Swanberg (YOU’RE NEXT, SILVER BULLETS, V/H/S) co-star. PROXY can also be found this September making its U.S. premiere at Austin’s Fantastic Fest. For more, keep up with the film at its official site.
