Ti West’s “THE SACRAMENT” and foreign frights at Lincoln Center’s Film Comment Selects series

The Film Comment Selects series at New York City’s Lincoln Center is always a good place to catch early looks at cool genre fare from around the world, and this year’s edition will be no exception.

Fango got the early news that the 14th annual edition of the popular screening showcase, running February 17-27, will host a solid selection of scare films. Top of the list is the New York premiere of THE SACRAMENT, the latest from THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL and THE INNKEEPERS’ Ti West, a found-footage look inside a mysterious cult produced by Eli Roth (see review here). Also on the slate is Marvin Kren’s German mutated-wildlife chiller BLOOD GLACIER, a.k.a. THE STATION (see trailer below); French filmmaker Denis Dercourt’s FLESH OF MY FLESH (LA CHAIR DE MA CHAIR, pictured above), about a mother who will do anything to feed her daughter (also trailered below); an early showing of ENEMY, Denis Villeneuve’s döppelganger thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS’ Mélanie Laurent and Isabella Rossellini; and THE HYPNOTIST, Lasse Hallstrom’s Swedish psychological thriller based on Lars Kepler’s best-selling novel. A schedule has yet to be announced, but keep an eye on the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s website, http://www.filmlinc.com where info should be surfacing soon.
