The new Rosemary has been found for NBC’s “BABY”

As NBC and Lionsgate TV get closer to rolling their remake of the classic ROSEMARY’S BABY, they have announced who’ll be filling Mia Farrow’s shoes as the eponymous heroine.

Variety reports that Zoe Saldana will play Rosemary in the four-hour miniseries, to be directed by art-house darling Agnieszka Holland (who has also helmed episodes of THE WIRE, COLD CASE, THE KILLING and TREME) and scripted by Scott Abbott and James Wong from Ira Levin’s novel. This retelling shifts the scariness from New York to Paris, where Rosemary and her husband move into an apartment with a dark past; after Rosemary becomes pregnant. she becomes suspicious that her husband as well as the neighbors have dark designs on her unborn child.

“Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin’s infamous novel,” says NBC’s Quinn Taylor. “With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event miniseries is off to a great start.” This is Saldana’s first venture into high-profile horror following her turns in AVATAR and as Uhura in the new STAR TREK movies.
