Teaser: “YOU’RE NEXT” Team’s “THE GUEST,” starring Dan Stevens

Following acclaimed home invasion horror comedy YOU’RE NEXT, director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett have crafted a new film that’s a little less horror, but no less genre. Get your first look at their intensely stylistic Sundance premiere THE GUEST, below.

THE GUEST is golden. Starring DOWNTON ABBEY’s Dan Stevens, the film is a vivid, style-heavy thriller, adorned in mood lighting, mood music and seriously hard stares. Like YOU’RE NEXT, it’s both funny in its overwrought moments, but no less affecting or sharp when it aims to be. It’s all anchored on Stevens, who’s unreal as the titular presence, a military man whose intent to help care for the family of a fallen friend goes terrifically awry.

Picturehouse is planning a fall visit for THE GUEST which find your first look at (courtesy of IGN) and its brief HALLOWEEN III reference (!), below. For more, see my initial thoughts on the film from Sundance here. I can say I’ve seen it again since and it really only improves.
