Teaser, Poster: Gyllenhaal Doppelganger Thriller, “ENEMY”

Enemyfeat

One of two (how appropriate) acclaimed doppelganger films hitting this year—the other being Richard Ayoade’s awesome, weird THE DOUBLE—ENEMY sees Jake Gyllenhaal re-team with PRISONERS director Dennis Villenueve for something decidedly more strange than their 2013 thriller.

In ENEMY, “university lecturer Adam (Gyllenhaal) is nearing the end of a relationship with his girlfriend Mary (Melanie Laurent). One night, while watching a film, Adam spots a minor actor who looks just like him. Consumed by the desire to meet his double, Adam tracks down Anthony, an actor living with his pregnant wife Helen (Sarah Gadon) and engages him in a complex and dangerous struggle. The film is a haunting and provocative psychosexual thriller about duality and identity, where in the end only one man will survive.”

The teaser is selling something moody, surreal and progressively unhinged. Very enticing, indeed. ENEMY is on DirecTV beginning February 6th and in theaters March 14. You can also find its neat new poster, below.
