“TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE” revival confirmed for this year

The reinvention of the horror anthology that marked George A. Romero’s first leap into genre television has been confirmed for airing—without Romero but with a few genre heavy hitters in the mix.

Variety reports that The CW has picked up the pilot and given a series order to a new version of TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE, which we first reported on here. The original TALES ran from 1984-1988 and featured adaptations of stories by Stephen King, Clive Barker, Robert Bloch, Harlan Ellison and others. This time, King’s son Joe Hill has scripted the pilot and will serve as an executive producer alongside the original series’ Mitchell Galin and Jerry Golod, STAR TREK/FRINGE veterans Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and Heather Kadin. The show will air during the 2015-16 season.
