Take note: Actor set to star in Adam Wingard’s manga adaptation “DEATH NOTE”

,

As the director of YOU’RE NEXT and THE GUEST moves up to his first major-studio horror project, he’s bringing a rising young star with him into darker territory.

Variety reports that Nat Wolff is in final talks to star in DEATH NOTE, Adam Wingard’s big-screen version of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s popular manga series, for Warner Bros. The story, which tells of a young man who finds a strange notebook and discovers that anyone whose name is written in its pages will die, was previously made into a pair of live-action features by Shusuke Kaneko in 2006 and an anime series that debuted the same year; RINGU’s Hideo Nakata helmed the follow-up film DEATH NOTE: L CHANGE THE WORLD in 2008. Jeremy Slater is the latest writer on the project, which is being produced by Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka. Wolff is better known for more romantic/comedic fare like THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, PAPER TOWNS and the current release THE INTERN.
